Privacy Policy
CropTender is a garden planning and tracking app for iPhone and the web, made by SoloCode(“we”, “us”). This page explains, in plain language, what information CropTender collects, why, who else handles it, and how you can have it deleted.
The short version
- We collect what the app needs to work: your email, your garden plans and the ZIP code you enter.
- We don’t show ads, we don’t use analytics or tracking tools, and we never sell your data.
- We don’t use your phone’s GPS or read your photos or contacts.
- Bug reports, including a screenshot and technical details, are sent only when you choose to send one.
- You can ask us to delete your account and everything in it at any time through our contact form.
What we collect
Your account
- Email address and password.You sign in with an email and password. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider (Supabase) and stored only in hashed form; we can’t see them.
- Display name that you choose.
- Your settings, such as your light/dark theme, how skipped tasks behave, and your plant spacing method.
Your garden
Everything you create in the app: your gardens and their names, beds and their layout, what you plant and when, plant varieties you add or edit, notes, tasks, routines, and the history of what you completed or skipped. This is what CropTender uses to build your schedule, and it is stored in your account so it stays in step between your phone and the web.
Your garden’s location
You enter a ZIP code for each garden. We look up the approximate coordinates and time zone of that ZIP code and save them with the garden, so we can fetch your local weather and work out “today” in your garden’s time zone. CropTender does not use your device’s GPS or location services.
A personal weather station (optional)
If you connect a Tempest weather station, we store its station ID and the access token you give us, and use them only to read that station’s weather data.
Bug reports (only when you send one)
You can send us a bug report from the app. A report contains what you type and the report type you pick, plus:
- a screenshot of the CropTender screen you were on;
- technical details to help us find the problem: the screen you were on and the last few screens you visited in the app, recent app errors and failed network requests (with passwords, tokens and keys removed), and your last few taps in the app;
- a summary of the garden you had open: its name, the season, how many beds and plants it has, and your settings;
- device details: on iPhone, the device model, iOS version, app version and build, screen size and language; on the web, your browser’s user-agent string, window size and language.
On iPhone, when you take a screenshot while using CropTender, the app may offer to report a problem. To do that it takes its own picture of the CropTender screen; it never opens your photo library. Nothing is sent unless you tap Submit, and you can turn the offer off with “Don’t ask again”. We may reply to your report; replies appear under Settings → My reports in the web app.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form on our support page, we keep the name, email address and message you enter so we can reply. You don’t need an account to use it.
What we don’t collect
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics, crash-tracking or other third-party tracking tools in the app or on the website.
- No precise location, contacts, photo library, microphone or camera access.
- No payment information. CropTender is currently free.
How we use it
We use your information only to:
- run the app: sign you in, save your garden, and keep your phone and the web in step;
- build your planting, watering and care schedule from your garden and your local weather;
- investigate and fix the problems you report, and reply to you;
- keep the service secure and working.
We don’t sell your information, share it for advertising, or use it to build a profile of you for anyone else. If we ever want to use it in a new way, we will update this policy first.
Who else handles your information
CropTender is built on a few services. They process data on our behalf to run the app, and only see what they need for that job:
- Supabase runs our sign-in, database and file storage. Your account, your garden data and bug-report screenshots are stored there.
- Vercel hosts the CropTender website and web app. Like any web host, it receives standard request information such as your IP address and browser type.
- Open-Meteoprovides weather forecasts and history. It receives the ZIP code you enter (to look up its location) and your garden’s approximate coordinates (to get the weather), but not your name, email or account.
- WeatherFlow (Tempest), only if you connect a station: it receives your station ID and access token so we can read your station’s data.
- Apple distributes the iPhone app. If you have agreed to share analytics or crash data with app developers in your iPhone settings, or you send feedback through TestFlight, Apple shares that with us under Apple’s privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or the service.
Cookies and storage on your device
The website uses cookies to keep you signed in and to remember small display choices (such as whether the sidebar is collapsed), and your browser’s local storage to remember things like your theme and which garden you last opened. The iPhone app keeps your sign-in and a copy of your profile on your device so it opens quickly. None of these are used for tracking or advertising.
How long we keep it, and deleting your account
We keep your account and garden data for as long as you have an account. Bug reports are kept while we need them to fix the problem.
To delete your account, send us a request through the contact formon our support page, using the email address you sign in with. We will delete your account, all of your gardens and their history, and your bug reports and screenshots within 30 days, and confirm by email to that address. Copies in our providers’ routine backups are removed as those backups expire. (A delete button inside the app is on the way.)
Your choices and rights
- You can see and change your garden data and settings in the app at any time.
- You can disconnect a Tempest weather station in Settings in the web app.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it through our contact form. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, and we will honor them.
Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Our database is set up so that each account can only read and change its own gardens. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and fix problems quickly.
Children
CropTender is not intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app or by email.
